Waldorf style window stars make a beautiful decoration this time of year, but I wanted something more. I decided to use them essentially a diffuser for holiday scents. They looks stunning and fill your home with gentle scent. To make these stars you will fold them the same way you would standard window stars, but you can’t use the traditional kite paper because it will repel the oil. (Kite paper is coated in wax.) Instead use regular tissue paper, which you can cut into squares yourself or you can find tissue paper for floats which conveniently comes in pre-cut 5.5 x 5×5” squares. (This is what I used) This is a great kid project and a fun way to involve littles in holiday preparations. Adding some paper snowflakes to the display looks lovely as well.

Star Folding Instructions
These directions are for a basic star, one of the fun things about window stars is you can vary the fold in any number of ways and change the shape and pattern of the stars. You can use any holiday essential oil that you like, I have been using spruce, but really any holiday scent would be lovely.
Materials:
- white tissue paper squares (NOT kite paper)
- gluestick
- essentIial oil
- mister bottle
- water
Method:

You’ll need either pieces of tissue for each star. with each piece start by folding it in half and then in half again the other way so you have divided into quarters and then open it back up.
Take one of the corners and fold it into the middle.

Repeat with the other three corners so that you again have a square.
Now with the paper oriented like a diamond, take the right side and fold from the top to the middle line.

Repeat on the other side, this is the point of your star. Repeat these steps in the other seven pieces of paper.
Once all eight pieces are folded, begin attaching them to each other with a dab of glue from your glue stick. The folded part should face the back and the smooth part should face front. (But you’ll see the fold lines in the light)

Continue until you have attached all eight pieces and hang in your window with a little glue or tape. To add the scent– I tried dabbing essential oil directly on the stars but it looked messy, I found the best tactic was to put a tablespoon or so of water in a mister and add essential oil to taste (or smell really) then spritz it on the stars every day or so and enjoy!
Lovely. how big were your squares. if you purchased the squares already cut, where did you purchase them from. thanks
They are 5.5 x 5.5″ https://amzn.to/3Rkstl4
