Jessie Lehson is an author/ illustrator and a former professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). She holds an MFA from MICA. She is an active member of SCBWI, Julie Hedlund’s 12×12 Picture Book Challenge and the kidlit community. She is an artist, naturalist and the founder of one of the only urban public nature schools in the U.S.; Watershed Public Charter School. She is the author of Watershed’s standards based nature curriculum. She has written/illustrated a number of articles and features for periodicals such as Taproot Magazine and the Children and Nature Network.
