
Jessie Lehson is an author/ illustrator and a former professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). She holds an MFA from MICA, and is an artist, naturalist, and the founder of one of the only urban public nature schools in the U.S.—Watershed Public Charter School. She is the author of Watershed’s standards-based nature curriculum. She is the former director of Friends of Great Kids Farm, a working farm and environmental education site owned by Baltimore City Schools. Jessie was recently named a “2024 Inspiring Leader in the Children and Nature Movement” by the Children and Nature Network. She has written and illustrated a number of articles and features for periodicals such as Little Thoughts Press, Taproot Magazine, and Run Wild My Child.
